Collaborating with Intel to support developers of artificial intelligence and machine learning products

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced DeepLens, a fully programmable, developer-focused, deep learning wireless video camera.

AWS CEO Andy Jassy made the announcement during a keynote at AWS re:Invent, the company’s annual event in Las Vegas. AWS and Intel have collaborated on the DeepLens camera to help developers at all skill levels design and develop AI and machine learning products with optimized tools.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are powering a new generation of smart industries, including smart homes, smart retail, smart manufacturing, and many others, making human life easier and more convenient through intelligent interactions with devices.

This collaboration demonstrates Intel’s commitment to supporting AI and machine learning product developers. Intel recently announced the Intel Speech Enabling Developer Kit for complete front-end far-field voice control, enabling external developers to more easily and quickly develop consumer products leveraging the Alexa Voice Service*.

DeepLens combines an easy-to-learn user interface with processing power capable of handling large amounts of data to support product development and training in the cloud. DeepLens leverages the Intel Atom X5 processor with integrated graphics to support object detection and recognition, and the Intel Math Kernel Library, a deep learning software tool and library optimized for Intel, to run real-time computer vision models directly on the device, reducing product development costs and real-time response times.
