TI Integrates SimpleLink MCUs with Amazon FreeRTOS for Fast Cloud Connectivity
Published2017.12.06 13:54TI announced the integration of new Amazon FreeRTOS into its SimpleLink microcontroller (MCU) platform, enabling developers to connect IoT endpoints to the cloud more quickly and securely.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and TI have collaborated to develop an integrated hardware and software solution that enables developers to connect to AWS's IoT services and begin system development immediately.
Amazon FreeRTOS was announced at AWS re:Invent 2017 in Las Vegas on November 29th. Amazon FreeRTOS provides the tools needed to quickly and easily deploy microcontroller-based connected devices and develop IoT applications without worrying about the complexity of scaling to millions of devices. Once connected to the cloud, IoT device applications can leverage the power of the cloud or continue processing data locally using AWS Greengrass.
TI's SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3220SF wireless MCU LaunchPad development kit with Amazon FreeRTOS provides embedded security features such as secure storage, anti-cloning, secure bootloader, and networking security. Developers can leverage these security features to protect cloud-connected IoT devices from IP and data theft and other threats.
“Traditionally, building IoT solutions has required expertise in embedded systems, software integration and cloud development, which are often independent disciplines. TI is working closely with AWS to address this complexity by providing an end-to-end development platform,” said Mattias Lange, SimpleLink Wi-Fi wireless MCU manager at TI. “By expanding our partnership with AWS to integrate Amazon FreeRTOS into our SimpleLink MCU platforms, TI is enabling developers to develop faster and focus on innovative IoT products.”

TI Brings Ethernet Connectivity to Its Wired and Wireless Communication MCU Platforms
TI has introduced Ethernet connectivity to the SimpleLink microcontroller (MCU) platform, a single platform offering hardware, software, and tool options for wired and wireless communication MCUs that enable developers to more easily connect sensors from gateways to the cloud. The new SimpleLink MSP432 Ethernet MCU is based on a high-performance 120MHz ARM Cortex-M4F core with integrated MAC and PHY, and can help shorten time-to-market for grid infrastructure and industrial automation gateway applications. The SimpleLink MSP432 Ethernet MCU integrates Ethernet MAC, PHY, USB, and CAN, allowing developers to reduce development time and simplify board layout. It can be configured to combine wired communications with wireless connectivity technologies such as Sub-1GHz, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth through built-in serial interfaces, thereby enabling end nodes to connect to the cloud.

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
