Altera Supplyes Industry's First 28nm FPGA Development Kit
Accelerate high-bandwidth system design with the fully functional Stratix V GX FPGA-based development kit

Hong Kong, September 7, 2011—Alterra Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) achieved another milestone today to accelerate the industry supply of 28nm FPGAs by supplying the Stratix® V GX FPGA Signal Integrity Development Kit, the first development kit to provide 28nm FPGAs. This fully functional kit enables design engineers to accelerate the design and development of high-performance systems that meet the industry's demand for higher bandwidth. The Stratix V GX FPGA Signal Integrity Development Kit provides customers with a platform to measure and evaluate transceiver link performance ranging from 600 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps.

The Stratix V GX FPGA Signal Integrity Development Kit provides advanced equalization features for the device's high-speed serial transceivers. Customers can perform real-world system analysis using on-board SMAs and popular backplane connectors, including Molex® Impact® and Amphenol® XCede®. These built-in high-speed backplane connectors are used to evaluate custom backplane performance and link BER. Users can also generate and verify pseudo-random binary sequences (PRBS) through an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI).

With the Stratix V FPGA Signal Integrity Development Kit, users can verify compatibility with the most commonly used protocol standards today, including 10GbE, 10GBASE-KR, PCIe® (PCI Express®) Gen1, Gen2, Gen3, Serial RapidIO®, GbE (Gigabit Ethernet), 10GbE XAUI, CEI-6G, CEI-11G, HD-SDI, Interlaken, and Fiber Channel. The development kit provides a Stratix V GX FPGA-based development board, a one-year license for Quartus® II software, design examples, and access to Altera's MegaCore® IP libraries, including the Nios® II Embedded Design Suite.
