Telit announced the launch of 'IoT AppZone 4.0,' an IoT development environment.

oT AppZone 4.0 is an expanded version of the existing 'AppZone C'. It adds an emulator and supports Lua, a lightweight scripting language optimized for embedded systems with limited processing power and resources. Additionally, it enhances static libraries to simplify the management of complex software projects and the integration of existing codebases.

IoT AppZone is a comprehensive solution that enables developers to develop, debug, and execute embedded software on the application processors of Telit IoT modules. The Eclipse-based integrated development environment (IDE) that comprises it features tools, libraries, online documentation, and sample code for IoT.

AppZone C is a flagship application framework that runs on a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) and provides optimized performance and fast response times. It includes a full set of APIs that can be programmed in C, enabling access to modems, hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and other services. As a cross-platform framework, it provides code portability between various products and technologies.

Yossi Moscovitz, Head of Products and Solutions at Telit, said, “By adding emulators and Lua to BLE modules and improving IoT AppZone, we have not only increased flexibility for developers to build code quickly but also expanded the user base of AppZone. App developers for devices based on low-power modules can now install and run applications directly from the module, allowing them to benefit from hardware integration and simplified development.”

It supports application embedding on various 2G, 3G, and LTE modules in Telit’s flagship xE910 Family and the compact xE866 Family. Developers can develop code that runs on Telit’s BLE module, the BlueMod 42 Family, through the added Lua scripting language.”
