Shortening the time required for CCC and CQC certification and reducing costs

The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) announced that it signed a business agreement with the Shanghai Metrology Testing Institute (SIMT) at Diaoyutai University in Beijing, China, for mutual recognition of analysis testing and product certification of air appliance products.

This agreement is expected to shorten the time and cut costs required for China's Electrical and Electronic Product Safety Certification (CCC) and Self-Certification (CQC) when domestic companies in the air appliance industry enter the Chinese market in the future.

Meanwhile, KETI has been carrying out the 'Air Appliance Innovation Support Center Construction Project' with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Gwangju Metropolitan City for five years since 2017, and is striving to make Gwangju a mecca for the air appliance industry with global competitiveness through corporate support activities such as certification, commercialization, and securing certification agencies in the air appliance field.

Currently, in order to export air conditioning products to China, CCC certification and CQC certification are required. Because the process is complicated and certification takes a long time, only products from large companies have been certified.

To address these issues and address the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, KETI signed a business agreement with SIMT to expand information/personnel/technology exchanges in the areas of certification and reliability, provide analysis testing of Korean and Chinese air appliance products to related companies, and establish a common Korean and Chinese air purification certification infrastructure for mutual recognition of product certification.

KETI plans to operate a priority application and testing system to provide domestic companies with rapid product certification testing.

Director Park Cheong-won said, “If an environment is created where certification tests for our companies to enter the Chinese market can be conducted domestically, the competitiveness of products from domestic small and medium-sized companies will increase, lowering export barriers to China.” He added, “We will do our best to ensure that the Air Appliance Innovation Support Center can serve as a platform for exports to China through mutual recognition of air appliances.”
