Opswat Launches Malware Detection Solution That Rapidly Detects Threats Using CDR Technology
Published2018.01.04 12:00Insec Security announced that Opswat, a company specializing in malware detection, has released the latest version of MetaDefender, a malware detection solution that upgrades file scanning and anti-malware cloud services.
The newly introduced MetaDefender Cloud version 4.8 enables developers and malware analysis experts to scan files faster and detect threats by utilizing CDR technology for multi-scanning and data sanitization.
In particular, with this new product, Opswat supports the synchronization of the latest maintenance releases for on-premises products with cloud services and has improved end-user performance by expanding file scan capacity. It also provides the industry's widest range of data sanitization coverage by supporting over 30 file types and more than 110 file conversions.
MetaDefender is Opswat's flagship product that provides a platform for file-based Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) by detecting and removing known or unknown malware contained in files and productivity-related documents. In particular, through the Data Disposal and Reconstruction (CDR) engine built into the platform, it can block zero-day attacks that operate via macros and hyperlinks.
MetaDefender Cloud supports the neutralization of a wide range of files, including HWP (Korean word processing file), JTD, XML, WMP, DOT, DOTX, XLSM, GIF, CSV, and ODT. It also blocks DDE attacks by supporting deep sanitization for Microsoft-based file types, such as metadata contained in MS Office 2003 and 2007 file types and embedded fonts. Along with this, Opswat has enhanced PDF sanitization capabilities through a recent update and added options for processing time and file size output.
Horacio Zambrano, CMO of Opswat, stated, “Backend cloud customers will immediately experience improvements in speed and scalability, while also confirming a significant enhancement in the quality of threat analysis results provided by the anti-malware platform. Furthermore, unlike typical cloud services, MetaDefender Cloud Service offers enterprise customers various options to protect the privacy of their data and files within their own networks.”

InsecSecurity Launches Cyber Security Threat Intelligence Platform That Identifyes Attack Characteristics
Maestro Networks, an in-house venture of InSecurity, has announced the launch of "Maestro Cyber Threat Intelligence Platforms," an intelligent security intelligence platform that automatically analyzes, validates, and blocks malicious files flowing into enterprises, and is beginning full-scale business operations targeting public sector and enterprise market customers. Maestro Networks, which is being invested in by InSecurity and jointly conducting technology research and marketing, is a company that develops malware detection, analysis, and blocking security solutions. Kim Jong-kwang, CEO of InSecurity, stated, "To prevent and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks, we must preemptively identify attacker characteristics and techniques. A cyber security threat intelligence platform is required to preemptively identify information about these attack characteristics and techniques," and added, "While enterprises have already built and deployed many security products, they are operated individually, failing to properly secure security threat intelligence flowing into the organization, resulting only in increased complexity and management burden. Maestro is an intelligence security platform that centrally connects various security solutions to automatically identify security threats at the stage when files flow into the enterprise and support rapid preemptive response."

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
