Improved Data Upload and Download Speed, 20GB Capacity Provided Free of Charge

KT announced the launch of 'mstorage,' a cloud service that allows users to store and manage data.

Starting service from the 15th, mstorage is characterized by a shift toward a mobile-centric user environment compared to KT's existing personal cloud service 'ucloud.' Users can securely store and play back personal data such as photos on their mobile phones through the mstorage app.

In particular, playback of 360-degree VR photos and videos is supported, and data upload and download speeds have improved compared to the personal ucloud. While the menu interface is simplified, functionality has been expanded to enhance convenience.

KT provides 20GB of capacity free of charge to its mobile customers, the same as the personal ucloud.

To use the mstorage service, users need to install the mstorage app on their smartphone and log in with their KT.com ID. The app can be downloaded by searching for 'mstorage' or 'mstorage' on the Android-based Play Store and One Store. An iOS app will be released at a later date.

KT will launch mstorage as a new service and discontinue the existing personal ucloud service on April 15th. Prior to this, data upload and sharing functions will be blocked starting January 15th, and charges for paid products will not be applied. To prevent data loss, users must download files to their PC before service termination. For users who sign up for mstorage by April 15th, data can be easily transferred using the 'Import ucloud Data' feature.

Kwon Ki-jae, Executive Vice President of KT's Wireless Service Division, stated, "We are introducing a new cloud service that allows users to manage data more conveniently in line with the mobile-centric environment," and added, "We will continue to identify services that customers desire and develop mstorage further."
