Unveiled 6 major services including remote-controlled drives, intelligent CCTV, 5G live broadcasting, 8K VR, smart drones, and FWA.

Ahead of the commercialization of 5G services, LG Uplus showcased six key 5G services at its 5G experience center, including remote-controlled driving, intelligent CCTV, 5G live broadcasting, 8K VR (ultra-high definition virtual reality video), smart drones, and FWA (UHD wireless IPTV).

LG Uplus plans to accelerate the construction of its 5G network starting in the second half of this year, once it is allocated 5G frequencies. The company intends to strengthen cooperation with global equipment manufacturers at home and abroad, as well as with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to build a mutually beneficial ecosystem for large and small businesses and to lead the global 5G service market.

We will strengthen cooperation with domestic and international global equipment companies regarding key 5G equipment. We plan to secure fundamental network competitiveness through the development and testing of core 5G equipment to enable the provision of stable services even in commercial networks.

LG Uplus is further strengthening collaboration with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to build a 5G ecosystem through mutual growth. Following the development of virtualization platforms and network automatic control technology platforms in partnership with domestic SMEs, LG Uplus plans to proceed with the development of domestic equipment, such as 5G repeaters and transmission equipment used in high-capacity backhaul sections, through cooperation with global equipment companies.

Development of 5G services is also accelerating. LG Uplus predicts that with the advent of the 5G era, new services will emerge based on high-definition video for B2C and remote control and video recognition for B2B. Representative examples include video services capable of ultra-high-definition multi-streaming, UHD-based CCTV capable of identifying specific individuals, remote control and autonomous driving for remotely controlling unmanned vehicles or industrial equipment, drones, and smart cities, smart factories, and smart buildings.

In particular, a 5G experience center (Everyone's 5G Experience Zone) was opened at the LG Uplus Yongsan building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, so that anyone can directly experience the changes in our daily lives brought about by the opening of the 5G era.

The 5G Experience Center consists of a video zone where visitors can experience ultra-high-definition video more realistically through various 5G services, and a B2B zone showcasing services with high utility value in industrial sites and public safety sectors, allowing visitors to see the 5G world that LG Uplus is preparing.

LG Uplus plans to provide experience opportunities primarily to government officials, academics, and stakeholders in related fields both domestically and internationally, and will make the general public able to try it out by setting up an application section for the experience center on its website as early as this month.

5G B2B services with high utility value for industrial sites and public safety through remote control and video recognition

You can experience an 'Intelligent CCTV' that analyzes recorded footage in real time. By analyzing real-time Full HD video captured by the CCTV, it is possible to recognize faces and even identify gender and age groups. This service can be utilized for public safety, such as detecting blacklisted audience members at large-scale events and identifying criminals in public places to prevent accidents.

It is also possible to experience a 'remote-controlled drive.' Without physically being inside the vehicle, users can drive an autonomous car from a distance as if they were sitting in the driver's seat, using cameras mounted on the vehicle. It is particularly useful in high-risk industrial sites.

The '5G Smart Drone,' the first in Korea to feature a cloud-based drone control system, flies autonomously once a destination is set and can be remotely controlled even when the drone is out of sight. It also allows for real-time viewing of high-definition HD video on IPTV during filming, making it highly useful at disaster and emergency sites.

Visitors can also experience "real-time driver monitoring," which reduces the risk of accidents by analyzing the driver's facial movements and eye blinking through cameras installed inside the vehicle and sounding a warning if drowsy driving is detected. In the future, it is expected to evolve into a system that analyzes the driver's condition and driving habits to help them develop safe driving habits.

5G video service that maximizes realism with ultra-high definition

'5G Live Streaming' is a service that allows users to watch various videos live from any point of their choice. It consists of location-based videos, 360VR, and close-up videos. In particular, the close-up videos combine footage shot by 30 cameras in real time, allowing users to view the content from various angles and replay decisive moments in detail. In addition, it is possible to view distant places in 360 VR as if you were looking right in front of them.

It is also possible to experience 'ultra-high definition virtual reality video,' which allows more people to simultaneously watch movies, performances, sports, etc., in 360-degree video with ultra-high definition 8K quality without interruption.

You can also experience 'UHD Wireless IPTV (FWA)' services, which allow you to enjoy the internet and high-definition broadcasting without a wired connection, as well as 'Mixed Reality Games,' which combine real and virtual spaces to provide a realistic gaming experience.
