IoT device design and demonstration possible without high-level development tools

Nordic Semiconductor announced that its Nordic Thingy:52 IoT sensor kit was selected as the final winner in the highly competitive 'Development Kit' category of the ACE Awards (Annual Creativity in Electronics Awards).

Nordic Thingy:52 is a development tool based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52832 Bluetooth LE ( Bluetooth Low Energy) SoC (System-on-Chip) and S132 SoftDevice (RF software protocol), optimized for IoT wireless sensor projects. This sensor kit enables app developers without high-level development tools or firmware coding expertise to quickly design and demonstrate IoT (Internet of Things) devices, related mobile devices, and Internet of Things apps.

Nordic Thingy:52 was shortlisted in the development kit category of the ACE Awards along with three other major semiconductor suppliers from the U.S. and Japan, and was selected as the final winner after evaluation by a panel of 15 industry experts. The evaluation criteria included the timeliness and suitability for the target market, as well as the innovativeness of the technology and the level of community interest.



The ACE Awards are organized by UBM, a global B2B event organization headquartered in London, and co-hosted with the U.S. electronic design magazines EETimes and EDN. These awards recognize the best representing today's electronics industry across various fields, including the latest electronic products, startups, design teams, and executives.

Furthermore, this awards not only encourages the development of new talent and innovation, but also serves as a platform to pay tribute to the lifetime achievements of leading industry professionals who have contributed to the advancement of technology, business, and culture worldwide and possess real influence.
