NXP Semiconductors announced the launch of the 'NXP Automated Drive Kit', a software-based platform for developing and testing automated vehicle applications.

This kit allows automakers and suppliers to collaborate with a growing ecosystem of partners to rapidly develop, test, and deploy autonomous driving algorithms and applications on an open and flexible platform.

Automated drive applications require easy access to a variety of hardware and software options. NXP provides hardware and software partners with the opportunity to foster a flexible development platform that meets the needs of diverse developers. The NXP Automated Drive Kit provides a Level 3 development baseline and the ability to further expand its capabilities as the ecosystem expands.

The first release of the Automated Drive Kit includes a front vision system based on the NXP S32V234 processor, allowing users to deploy their preferred algorithms. It also includes Neusoft's front camera application software API and object detection algorithms.

Newsoft is a Chinese IT solutions and services provider and NXP's strategic advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and AD partner. Additionally, the kit includes sophisticated radar options and GPS positioning technology, giving customers a variety of LiDAR options to choose from, and the ability to add AutonomouStuff's LiDAR Object Processing (LOP) module software, which provides ground segmentation and object tracking.

NXP and AutonomouStuff will demonstrate the Automated Drive Kit on a Lexus RX 450h at CES 2018 at booth CP-25.
