Western Digital unveiled a large number of innovative solutions at 'CES 2018'.

Western Digital has added a new voice-recognition media streaming feature via smart home devices to its personal cloud storage service, 'My Cloud Home.' Along with this, the company unveiled new products including the world's smallest 1-terabyte (TB) USB drive and two high-performance portable SSDs for photographers and drone enthusiasts. These new products, sold under the SanDisk and WD brands, help consumers preserve their cherished memories vividly for a long time by enabling easy management of their rapidly growing personal content.

Today, the volume of content created, stored, and shared by users through devices such as smartphones, drones, action cameras, and virtual reality (VR) goggles is increasing. Furthermore, technological innovations such as multi-lens cameras, 8K video, 5G wireless internet, VR, augmented reality (AR), and video streaming have enabled more immersive content experiences. Consequently, consumers require solutions that allow them to more easily store, preserve, access, and share their rapidly growing personal content.

Voice recognition media streaming added to My Cloud Home

A new voice recognition media streaming feature via smart home devices has been added to My Cloud Home. My Cloud Home is compatible with Amazon Alexa, allowing users to more easily access stored music playlists via voice commands. Additionally, Google Chromecast technology is available through the My Cloud Home app, enabling users to enjoy home videos, TV shows, and movies stored on My Cloud Home on a large screen with just a Chromecast-compatible smart TV.

At CES 2018, the future of flash storage was showcased through the demonstration of the world's smallest 1TB USB device. This product is a powerful USB Type-C flash solution capable of storing massive amounts of content in a single ultra-compact form factor. Along with this, the world's smallest 256-gigabyte (GB) USB flash drive, the 'SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1,' was also unveiled.

This product is suitable for consumers who want to add more photos, videos, games, and audio files to laptops, tablets, game consoles, car audio systems, and more. With a large capacity of 256GB, it can store approximately 14,000 photos, 10 hours of Full HD video, and 16,000 songs, while still having 64GB of free space.



Two new portable SSDs were also launched for photography and drone enthusiasts who require high-durability, high-performance data storage solutions. The 'WD My Passport Wireless SSD' supports one-touch memory card copying, allowing users to edit and share content immediately on-site. It also features a function that allows direct access to the device from third-party mobile video production apps such as FiLMiC Pro and LumaFusion. Another new product, the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, offers fast transfer speeds, making it ideal for saving and editing high-quality photos and videos immediately.
