Samsung Washing Machine Selected as ‘Smart Home Technology’ at KBIS 2018
Published2018.01.15 08:46Samsung Electronics announced that its washing machine won the 'Smart Home Technology' award and the 'Best of Kitchen' silver award at the 'Best of KBIS 2018 Awards' held in Orlando, USA.
Hosted by the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), the largest kitchen and bath industry trade show in the U.S., this awards ceremony selects products with the best design, technology, and innovation and awards the 'Best of Show' award as well as gold and silver awards in the 'Best of Kitchen' and 'Best of Bath' categories.
In particular, this year, a new category called 'Smart Home Technology' was created to award brands leading the smart home sector, reflecting the growing trend of kitchen and bathroom products with smart features.
Samsung Electronics' QuickDrive drum washing machine won the 'Smart Home Technology' award, and its FlexWash washing machine and FlexDry dryer won the silver award for 'Best Kitchen Product', making it the only home appliance company to receive the award. He got attention by putting his name on it.
The 'QuickDrive' washing machine, which was selected for the 'Smart Home Technology' award, is a product that dramatically reduces washing time by implementing four-directional movements up, down, forward, and backward with the 'Q-Drum', which combines a rotating plate method that moves independently with the existing drum washing machine that uses an up-and-down drop method.
KBIS noted that this product's AI-based 'Q-rator' provides optimal solutions to consumers' laundry-related concerns.
The 'Curator' function consists of ▲ 'Laundry Planner' which recommends a washing course and starts washing automatically, ▲ 'Laundry Recipe' which suggests the optimal customized course based on the soiling level of the laundry input by the user, and ▲ 'HomeCare Wizard' which monitors the product in advance to keep it in optimal condition and provides easy-to-follow management tips or quick problem-solving support so that the user can save time and money.
The 'QuickDrive' washing machine has been well-received in the European market since it was first unveiled at IFA last year, and is scheduled to be released in the North American market in the first half of this year.
'FlexWash' is an innovative product that combines an upper 3.5kg fully automatic washing machine and a lower 21kg large-capacity drum washing machine, which can be operated simultaneously or separately.
Samsung Electronics Executive Director Choi Ik-soo said, “Samsung Electronics’ innovative technology that takes into consideration consumers using the kitchen has been well-received by industry experts who visited the KBIS 2018 exhibition site,” and added, “We will continue to provide cutting-edge technology and convenience.” “We will continue to introduce enhanced products and build a perfect home IoT ecosystem to strengthen our leadership in the North American home appliance market,” he said.

Samsung Electronics Begins Full-Scale Mass Production of '2nd Generation 8GB HBM2 DRAM' with Maximum Transfer Capacity
Samsung Electronics is mass-producing the 'second-generation 8GB HBM2 (High Bandwidth Memory) D-RAM' Aquabolt, which offers the world's highest data transmission capacity. The 1.2V-based 2.4Gbps second-generation 8GB HBM2 D-RAM 'Aquabolt' can process 307GB of data—equivalent to 61 full-HD movies (5GB each)—in one second, which is 9.6 times faster than the 32GB per-second data transmission rate of conventional high-performance graphics D-RAM (8Gb GDDR5, 8Gbps). In particular, when a system is equipped with four 2.4Gbps 8GB packages, it can process up to 1.2TB of data per second, enabling performance improvement of up to 50% compared to the 0.82TB of conventional 1.6Gbps-based systems.

Samsung Smart TVs Prove Security with Standards Agency Certification
