LG Uplus AI Platform 'Clova' Automatically Applied to Existing Set-top Boxes

LG Uplus announced that it will sequentially apply 'Clova,' the AI platform of its artificial intelligence smart home service 'U+ Our Home AI,' to U+tv (IPTV) 'UHD1' set-top boxes by the 25th of this month.
Accordingly, existing users of U+tv UHD2 and UHD1, which have the AI platform applied, can also use the service through the set-top box that is automatically upgraded.
The U+ Home AI service allows you to search for U+tv VODs via voice commands using the AI speaker 'Friends Plus' or the U+tv remote control.
Even if you don't know the VOD title, you can find the movie or TV content you want by speaking keywords such as genre, actor, or director; if you ask questions while watching, search results are displayed on the screen, and controls such as changing channels and adjusting the volume are available.
LG Uplus has been offering 'Friends Plus' for free to new customers who sign up for five types of U+tv and IoT package products among U+ Internet subscribers since December. They also explained that they plan to expand the eligibility for free gifts to include customers renewing their contracts.
Lee Hae-seong, Senior Vice President of AI Services at LG Uplus, said, “To enhance customer convenience for the Our Home AI service, we plan to continuously increase the number of IoT products that can be simultaneously controlled with partnered services, and also develop AI-IoT-IPTV convergence services.”

LG Uplus announced that it has established a smart pipeline management system based on NB-IoT with Samcheonri, a comprehensive energy company, and has commenced commercial service. The establishment of an industrial management service utilizing NB-IoT technology had undergone pilot operation for three months from August of last year in some areas of Samcheonri's city gas supply zone.
