Systran's OpenNMT selected as 2018 TOP 30 machine learning project
Published2018.02.05 10:40Systran International announced that its open source-based artificial neural network machine translation project OpenNMT has been selected as one of the '2018 TOP 30 Machine Learning Projects' by Mybridge for Professionals.
Mybridge for Professionals comprehensively evaluated approximately 8,800 machine learning projects including machine learning, datasets, and applications released between January and December of last year, considering popularity, participation, and project recency. Systran's OpenNMT was selected as the 26th ranked project among the top 30.
The OpenNMT project, jointly conducted by Systran and Harvard NLP team, involves over hundreds of academics and industry experts worldwide, with Systran R&D researchers supporting platform development and user community activation initiatives. The OpenNMT project won the 'Best Demonstration Runner-up' (operating systems category) at the computer linguistics specialist conference 'ACL 2017' held last year.
OpenNMT is being actively adopted in service improvement projects of various global companies based on its superior artificial neural network machine translation capabilities. Booking.com, the world's largest hotel reservation site, has built an artificial neural network machine translation system based on the OpenNMT framework and utilizes it to translate English property listings for hotels, apartments, and hostels into German or French, achieving improved work efficiency and related cost savings. Additionally, NVIDIA, a global computer graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) company, has adopted OpenNMT in its latest version of TensorRT3, a deep learning optimization interface.
Systran CEO Gi Lucas stated, "We take pride in seeing various global companies improve their competitiveness based on the expertise Systran has accumulated," and explained, "We will continue to provide active support not only for enhancing OpenNMT's open source but also for enabling diverse user communities and enterprises to use it more actively."
Meanwhile, Systran plans to hold an OpenNMT-related workshop in Paris, France in March this year, where it will share user experiences from business and research processes and conduct hands-on sessions.

Systran Signs MOU with China's HelloTalk to Enhance Translation Services
Systran International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HelloTalk, a leading foreign language learning and social networking service company in China with over 8 million members worldwide, as part of the GCS (Global Creative Software) government project under the SW Computing Industry Core Technology Development Project for 'development of a foundational translation platform integrating deep learning solutions and crowdsourced human translation' to enhance translation quality and service. HelloTalk provides a social networking-based foreign language learning and language exchange application, with a distinctive feature allowing users to receive correction and guidance from native speakers for the languages they wish to learn. After free registration, HelloTalk users can select one language as their default choice, and can add two or more additional languages through a separate payment method.

Systran Builds AI Automatic Translation System for Classical Literature
Systran International announced that it has successfully completed the "Construction of an AI-Based Classical Literature Automatic Translation System" project of the Korean Classical Translation Institute, which is a task of the Ministry of Science and ICT (Korea Information Society Development Institute) "2017 ICT-Based Public Service Promotion Project" that has been in progress since June. Systran explained, "The AI-based classical literature automatic translation solution introduced in classical literature-to-modern text translation is expected to be recognized as one example of the convergence of humanities and social sciences with science and technology, and is anticipated to contribute to the development of future growth drivers for the Republic of Korea and the securing of academic assets."
