Fairchild Semiconductor, a leading global supplier of high-performance power and mobile products building an increasing portfolio of critical audio IP solutions, has developed the FAB3103, a 2.3W Class-D audio amplifier supporting an integrated boost rectifier and battery automatic gain control (AGC).
Suitable for use in mobile terminals, smartphones, and tablets, as well as portable media players, the FAB3103 supports a built-in boost rectifier that enables high audio output power beyond the power supply range of 2.5V to 5.2V from a 3.6V lithium battery.
At low power outputs, the product's step-up rectifier automatically shuts down to extend battery life for improved efficiency and lower quiescent current consumption. The FAB3103 audio amplifier also features Battery Automatic Gain Control (AGC), which reduces gain at low power supply voltages to limit maximum power consumption, reduce distortion, and prevent premature shutdown.
In a 12-bump, WL-CSP package, the FAB3103 product also provides various protection features, including short-circuit protection, low-voltage shutdown, and click-and-pop suppression. In addition, the product's low EMI design allows for filterless operation with high noise rejection technology that improves sound quality via differential audio input.
