April 10, 2012 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the development of the LTC2960, a two-input voltage monitor with a range of 2.5V to 36V. With a standby current consumption of only 850nA, this product can extend battery life in battery-powered applications. The LTC2960 provides two adjustable monitoring inputs that can be configured to provide UV (undervoltage) or OV (overvoltage) monitoring, low battery indication, UVLO (undervoltage lockout), power supply sequencing signals, or high-voltage window comparators for microprocessors, DC/DC switchers, or LDO-based systems. By offering a wide voltage operating range and low current consumption in a 2mm x 2mm DFN or ThinSOT™ package, the LTC2960 can meet the requirements of a wide range of battery-powered portable applications.
The LTC2960 is distinguished by these unique features for low-power voltage monitoring applications, and is particularly ideal for multi-Li+ coin cell, AA, AAA, and other small battery-powered or 'eco-friendly' applications. ±1.5% precision reset and undervoltage and overvoltage monitoring thresholds can be easily configured with external resistors. When used as a supervisor, a manual reset input is provided, and an optional pushbutton switch is available to force a system reset. The LTC2960-1 and LTC2960-3 provide two independent UV monitors, while the LTC2960-2 and LTC2960-4 provide one UV and one OV monitor. Order options include a reset timeout selection (select between 15ms or 200ms), an output logic supply pin, an active pull-up, or a 46V open-drain output to maximize application flexibility.
The LTC2960 is available in commercial, industrial, and automotive versions, with operating temperature ranges of 0°C to 70°C, -40°C to 85°C, and -40°C to 125°C, respectively. All products are available in 8-pin 2mm x 2mm DFN or 8-pin ThinSOT packages, both of which are RoHS compliant. Pricing starts at $1.71 per unit for 1,000-unit orders.
