The '2018 Automotive Lightweight Technology Industry Exhibition', where you can see automotive lightweight technology, equipment, and the latest trends at a glance, was held on the 7th.
The industrial exhibition, which will be held for three days from the 7th to the 9th at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2, will display materials and parts, processing technology, molding, analysis/inspection equipment, etc., and software technology that enables design, testing, and measurement simulation will also be provided.
This industrial exhibition, which is held under the slogan of ‘Talking about cutting-edge automobile technology innovation,’ will provide opportunities for exchanges between various industries and the automobile industry, and will also provide a look at future automobile trends through various side events.
Weight reduction is being discussed as a factor that enables handling, fast and smooth cornering, excellent acceleration, efficient fuel consumption, and can solve environmental problems such as exhaust gas problems. Participating companies provided products and solutions to address these challenges.
This event will consist of a three-day ‘Engineer Open Technology Seminar’, a ‘Seminar on Autonomous Vehicle ICT Convergence Platform Technology Trends and Advanced Sensor Technology’, a ‘Korea-EU Automotive Lightweight Technology Advancement Forum’ on the 8th, and a ‘Seminar on Application Cases of New Automotive Lightweight Technology and Advanced Lightweight Material Processing Technology and Heterogeneous Bonding Technology’ on the last day.
In addition, the cutting-edge materials, parts processing system industry exhibition will be held, where you can simultaneously see carbon fiber composite materials (CFRP/CFRTPC), engineering plastics, lightweight materials and parts, and industrial 3D printers.
This year, approximately 110 companies participated, including Keysight, DUT, Jinheung Volkhov, IL Science, FUJI Film, JFM, and API. An exhibition official said, “Through this exhibition, companies participating in the ‘Automobile Lightweight Technology Industry Exhibition’ will be able to create new revenue models, expand opportunities for domestic and international business expansion, and become a driving force for the development of the automobile industry.”

Artificial intelligence evolving into semiconductors with smaller size and larger capacity
At Semicon Korea 2018, Kang Ho-gyu, Senior Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics' Semiconductor Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech on semiconductor technologies and directions for the fourth industrial revolution. The semiconductor industry is expected to maintain strong momentum in 2018 due to improved global economic conditions and increased demand from IoT, autonomous vehicles, and other sectors. As examples, Dubai drone delivery will soon be commercialized, and at Amazon Go, customers no longer need to stand in line. Japan's Pepper Robot has already begun service at hotels in Japan. Changes in daily life resulting from IT advancement are occurring across multiple sectors. Among various fields, smart cities, which attracted attention as a major topic at the 2018 CES, are a prime example. Sample cities have been selected in several countries, and in Korea, Busan and Sejong have been selected as candidates, drawing attention as a future industry. This involves connecting city components through the Internet and 5G, and utilizing big data and AI to ultimately provide citizens with a safe environment.
