Lenovo Korea voluntarily recalls some products due to potential battery overheating.
Published2018.02.07 16:34Lenovo has announced a voluntary recall of some ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th generation laptops due to a loose screw that may cause the battery to overheat, posing a risk of system damage and fire. The affected laptops were manufactured between December 2016 and October 2017.
The affected products can be identified by product type (Machine Type), serial number (Serial number), and build date (Build date). The product types subject to recall are 20HQ, 20HR, 20K3, and 20K4. You can check whether the product is eligible for free replacement on the recall site ( https://support.lenovo.com/X1C_5GEN_RECAL ).
Lenovo is offering a free inspection service for all recalled products and advises users of affected products to shut down their systems and refrain from using them until the inspection service is complete. Lenovo specifically warned that loosening screws could cause the battery to overheat, posing a fire hazard.
“Lenovo is conducting the recall publicly to ensure customer safety and immediate resolution of issues,” said Kang Yong-nam, CEO of Lenovo Korea. “Customers in charge will be supported to safely resolve issues through technical support staff and expert engineers.”
