April 12, 2012 – Arteris, Inc. (Country Manager Yeon Myeong-heum), a leading provider of Network-on-Chip (NoC) interconnect IP solutions, announced today that MtekVision has adopted Arteris’s FlexLLI™ MIPI LLI (Low Latency Interface) as the interchip link IP for multiple System-on-Chips (SoCs).
As announced by the MIPI Alliance on February 29, 2012, MIPI LLI is a point-to-point (P2P) interconnect between two chips, characterized by a round-trip time from one point to another that is low enough to share a single DRAM. LLI uses MIPI M-PHY as the physical interface. The MIPI LLI specification includes Agilent Technologies, Inc., Arasan Chip Systems Inc., Arteris Inc., BitifEye, Digital Test Solutions, Broadcom Corporation, Intel Corporation, Motorola Mobility, Inc., Renesas Electronics Corporation, Qualcomm Incorporated, RIM (Research In Motion), Samsung Electronics, ST-Ericsson, Synopsys, Inc., TI (Texas Instruments Incorporated), and the University of New Hampshire UNH-IOL (Inter Operability Lab).
Arteris has participated in the MIPI Alliance LLI Working Group since 2009, when the LLI investigation group was formed.
Jeon Han-cheol, Vice President of Mtek Vision, stated, “We chose Arteris’s FlexLLI because it is the only silicon-validated LLI solution and was the fastest and safest way to embed MIPI LLI within Mtek Vision’s SoCs.” He added, “Unlike configurable FlexLLI products, the MIPI LLI specification does not comprehensively provide key elements such as QoS, frequency, power, clock management, SoC interconnect integration, performance simulation, and automated verification. We wanted to be able to apply it to our SoC interconnects using our own LLI IP, rather than through other methods. Choosing Arteris FlexLLI was a natural outcome.”
Atheris FlexLLI is the only silicon-validated MIPI LLI, having been applied to the industry's first LLI-integrated SoCs, including TI's OMAP5430. This configurable IP connects easily to SoC interconnects using Atheris's FlexNoC® NoC (network on chip) interconnect IP, as well as AMBA AXI, OCP, and patented protocols. FlexLLI can also easily interface with internally developed M-PHYs as well as commercial MIPI M-PHY IPs such as Synopsys M-PHY.
Arteris and Synopsys also provide a joint solution consisting of Arteris' FlexLLI MIPI LLI digital controller IP and Synopsys' DesignWare MIPI M-PHY IP for customers who want a complete LLI digital controller and M-PHY.
