SBCK Chooses 'Azure Stack Cloud' with Guaranteed Stability
Published2018.02.12 10:40Dell EMC has supplied its hybrid cloud platform 'Dell EMC Cloud for Azure Stack' to support SBCK, a domestic subsidiary of SoftBank Group, in building a new public cloud service. SBCK plans to introduce an 'MS Cloud Platform' based on Azure Stack Cloud Appliance targeting public institutions and educational organizations.
As a member of SoftBank Group led by Chairman Masayoshi Son and a key global enterprise in next-generation technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things), SBCK is focusing on ICT distribution and cloud consulting as its core business in South Korea. Since beginning cloud operations in 2012, SBCK has recently expanded its scope from cloud brokerage services to cloud marketplace.
SBCK's 'MS Cloud Platform' can be broadly divided into IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service), providing various services including Azure SQL Server, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery. SBCK's MS Cloud Platform is scheduled to obtain ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification in the first half of the year and commence service in the second half. SBCK is developing usage prediction features and user-friendly interfaces to maximize convenience, while also preparing managed hosting services targeting mega-sized public institutions.
The Dell EMC Azure Stack Cloud Appliance adopted by SBCK is a hybrid cloud platform that rapidly implements an on-premise turnkey environment identical to Microsoft's public cloud Azure, based on Dell EMC's advanced technology and support services.
Based on HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure) featuring Dell EMC's 'PowerEdge' servers, which rank first in the global server market (IDC survey, Q3 2017 based on unit sales), all components are pre-configured and tested before shipment, significantly reducing infrastructure construction time, complexity, and cost. Additionally, Dell EMC's advanced backup and encryption technologies maintain consistent data protection and security standards, providing a security environment equivalent to private cloud.
SBCK's selection of Dell EMC for the new cloud platform infrastructure was driven by the exceptional performance and cost-effectiveness of Dell EMC appliances as well as Dell EMC's service capabilities. Unlike other domestic cloud operators based primarily on OpenStack who separately purchase and install infrastructure components, SBCK was able to rapidly, conveniently, and economically build Azure-based cloud infrastructure with guaranteed performance and stability through Dell EMC's Azure Stack Cloud Appliance. Dell EMC is a vendor capable of integrated support for Azure services and hardware, and its proven service competence from past collaboration experience with SBCK further enhanced reliability.
Chul-woo Shin, Vice President of SBCK, stated, "SBCK's MS Cloud Platform will enable domestic customers to utilize Azure-based cloud infrastructure with guaranteed performance and stability more conveniently and accessibly. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers.
