Less damage to the device that is inserted into the body rather than externally attached, enabling accurate measurements

SK Telecom announced that its "LiveCare" service won the "Enterprise Mobile Service Innovation Award" at the "MWC 2018 GSMA Global Mobile Awards." This award recognizes companies that have introduced services and products that can contribute to corporate productivity, including data management, service innovation, and security.

'Live Care' is an IoT livestock management system developed in collaboration between SK Telecom and Ulike Korea, which allows farm owners to monitor the condition of cattle in real time.

This service provides various information, such as identifying signs of disease and calving, predicting the right time for insemination, etc. by inserting a biocapsule equipped with an IoT communication module into the first stomach (rumen) of a cow and checking the cow's body temperature and acidity (pH).

The cow's body temperature and acidity data, measured through the biocapsule, are transmitted to a server via LoRa, a low-power IoT network. The server analyzes the cow's condition and, if any abnormalities are detected, sends a notification message to the farmer's smartphone or PC. Farmers can conveniently check data results, such as cow disease and breeding schedule, anytime, anywhere using a smartphone app.



SK Telecom explained that it received high praise for incorporating IoT technology into the livestock industry to improve the convenience of livestock management for farmers and establish a foundation for safely managing livestock products.

Unlike external devices like earrings and necklaces, LiveCare is inserted into the body, reducing the risk of damage and enabling accurate condition measurement. Furthermore, it is the first in Korea to receive certification as an oral veterinary medical device.

Based on these advantages, SK Telecom and Ulike Korea signed an agreement to provide LiveCare services to Namyang Dairy's six farms nationwide.
