IDT's new device family minimizes power consumption and optimizes the Bill of Materials (BOM) while maintaining compatibility with existing standards for high-capacity memory modules.
The IDT TS3000GB0A0 is a low-power, high-accuracy temperature sensor for enterprise server and storage applications. It supports a 1.8V power supply to reduce power consumption and is compatible with existing supply voltages for SSD memory modules, eliminating the need for an additional voltage regulator. This device continues IDT's tradition of leading the industry with exceptional temperature accuracy, achieving superior performance that exceeds the requirements specified in the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) JC42.4 standard for Class B temperature sensors operating from -20°C to +125°C. The innovative analog-to-digital converter (ADC) enables programmable resolution up to 12 bits (0.0625°C) with an industry-leading conversion time of less than 100 nanoseconds, regardless of resolution, significantly improving the overall precision of thermal control loops across the entire temperature range.
John Unsworth of Gartner Research stated, “Enterprise SSDs offer significantly better performance with less board area and power consumption,” adding, “Demand for enterprise-grade SSDs has exploded over the past few years.” It was predicted that unit shipments would increase by more than 41% within the next five years, and that revenue for SSD suppliers would increase more than fourfold during this period.

The IDT TS3000GB0A0 supports both SMBus and I2C interfaces for compatibility with the latest generation of flash memory and controllers. Furthermore, it is fully JEDEC compliant, making it the only standards-based solution offered to customers in the industry, at a time when most competitor thermal sensors do not follow any standardization efforts. This device integrates advanced on-die power management features to minimize power consumption in critical modes, such as when mobile devices or fault-tolerant enterprise systems operate on battery power. In addition, it improves fault-tolerant performance through input glitch filtering and power-up voltage hysteresis characteristics, which are critical features for server and storage equipment.
