April 24, 2012, Seoul — STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), a global semiconductor company in various electronic device applications and a leader in multi-segment ICs, is launching the 'TS33', a general-purpose voltage comparator that consumes only one-third the current for the same response time compared to existing devices such as the LMV331.

ST’s newly released voltage comparator meets the high power efficiency and long battery life requirements of the latest portable devices, reflecting ST’s commitment to contributing to sustainability. The most significant feature of this product is that it achieves a propagation delay of 200ns while consuming only 30µA of supply current, a 66% reduction compared to other previously released solutions. Based on this energy efficiency, it is possible to manufacture products that reduce power consumption while minimizing environmental impact.

In addition, it exhibits stable response times within a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and provides excellent Electrostatic Discharge Protection. Furthermore, it implements a wide driving voltage range of 1.6V to 5V, enabling the integration of open drain output and rail-to-rail input. This increases design flexibility by enabling the integration of ST's voltage comparators in 1.8V, 3V, and 5V systems.

ST's ultra-low power general-purpose voltage comparator is available in single, dual, and quad versions in a space-saving SMD package and is designed for signal conditioning applications in mobile communications, battery-operated portable electronic devices, and alarm and security systems.

The new TS33 general-purpose voltage comparator is currently available for sample supply and is ready for mass production. The price for orders of 1,000 units is $0.28 per unit for the TS331 single, $0.35 per unit for the TS332 dual, and $0.39 per unit for the TS334 quad.
