Samsung Electronics Upgrades Various Features to Match Changes in Consumer Lifestyles

Samsung Electronics is launching new 2018 models of its 'AddWash' and 'ActiveWash' washing machines with enhanced washing performance and IoT features to reflect consumers' changing lifestyles.

'AddWash' is a drum washing machine with an 'AddWindow' that allows for additional laundry during washing. The new 2018 model features the same exterior dimensions as the existing 21kg model but offers a capacity of 23kg, allowing you to wash bulky or large amounts of laundry at once.

In addition, the automatic detergent dispensing device has been significantly improved to accommodate consumers who use various types of detergents. 'Automatic Detergent Dispensing+' is a feature that automatically dispenses a set amount of detergent and fabric softener for about a month once the tank is filled completely.



This new product allows for the addition of not only liquid detergents and fabric softeners, but also highly concentrated liquids that were difficult to use with existing products.

In particular, the detergent and fabric softener compartments can be washed separately, making it hygienic. If you use different types of detergents, such as baby detergent, you can purchase an additional compartment and replace it as needed.

With the enhanced 'Detergent-Free Tub Cleaning+' function, you can clean everything from the washing tub to the door frame thoroughly with just water, without the need for dedicated detergent, ensuring hygienic use.

In addition, existing features such as 'Automatic Custom Wash,' which detects the weight and soiling level of the laundry and makes decisions on its own from washing to detergent dispensing and additional rinsing, and 'Bubble Tech,' which cleans between the fabric fibers with fine, rich foam in which the detergent is fully dissolved, have also been retained.

ActiveWash is a fully automatic washing machine that allows you to conveniently perform everything from pre-washing to main washing in one place. The new 2018 model features a top tempered glass door that is 1.5 times wider, making it easier to check the washing status, and energy efficiency has been further enhanced by applying an inverter motor to all models with a capacity of 14kg or more.

In addition, by selecting laundry options frequently used by consumers, the following features have been introduced: ▲ 'Clean Wash' with an additional rinse cycle, ▲ 'Rinse + Spin' which combines the two courses most frequently used after the standard course, and ▲ 'Ultimate Spin' with extended spin time for dryer users.A new ability has been added.

If you use the dryer after 'Ultimate Spin,' you can save about 25 minutes in total washing and drying time and about 15% on electricity costs.

The 2018 'AddWash' and 'ActiveWash' models have further enhanced IoT capabilities and all offer smart features through the 'SmartThings' app, such as 'Washing Recipe,' which recommends the optimal washing course based on fabric type, color, and soiling level; 'Washing Planner,' which allows you to set a desired washing end time; and 'Home Care Manager,' which provides information on the washing machine's status and usage history.



In addition to the standard washing courses, 'AddWash' allows you to add up to 15 subdivided 'Cloud Courses', such as blouses, black cotton clothes, and cloudy day washing, through the 'SmartThings' app, enabling washing according to fabric and situation.

"The new products feature differentiated functions tailored to changing consumer lifestyles, such as automatic dispensing of highly concentrated detergent, 'Ultimate Spin' for dryer users, and 'Detergent-Free Tub Cleaning+' considering the growing consumer interest in hygiene," said Ho-Jin Jeong, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliances Business Division. "We will strive to ensure that consumers do not feel stressed about laundry and can minimize the burden of housework."

The 2018 Samsung 'AddWash' comes in a 17–23kg capacity with a retail price ranging from 1,599,000 won to 2,340,000 won. It costs 9,000 won, and 'Active Wash' is 14~16kg and costs 709,000 won to 1,029,000 won.
