VMware has expanded its portfolio of cloud services required for enterprises' multi-cloud operations. This newly expanded portfolio is characterized by providing a consistent IT operations approach from the data center to the cloud. It provides the visibility, operations, automation, security, and governance required for cloud operations and management. This allows enterprises to reduce complexity and risk.

“The service will enable customers to develop any application, deploy any application, and deliver it to any device,” said Raghu Raghuram, chief operating officer of VMware Products and Cloud Services.

The newly expanded cloud services portfolio includes:

VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension Service : Provided as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), it ensures mobility between on-premises and the cloud, even across different vSphere versions. Hybrid Cloud Extension Service (HCX) has been applied to private enterprise data centers, enabling large-scale workload migration across multiple private data centers. Application migration can be performed without modifying environments with specific vSphere versions, minimizing application downtime. Cloud migration processes are simplified by eliminating the need to rebuild, test, or modify cloud tools while maintaining business continuity, application uptime, network architecture, and performance. Customers using HCX services for IBM Cloud and VMware Cloud on AWS can expand their vSphere-based environments to the public cloud for on-premises capacity or geographic expansion.

Wavefront by VMware : Wavefront by VMware supports cloud-native and enterprise applications, workloads on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, as well as public and private cloud infrastructure, including VMware Cloud on AWS. It also offers analytics services for 45 new services and applications, including AWS Lambda, Kafka, Docker, GCP, Chef, GitHub, Spark, Nginx+, and Mesos. This allows enterprises to optimize application operations and leverage enhanced dashboarding and reporting capabilities through Wavefront by VMware's enhanced integration, visualization, and monitoring capabilities. Additionally, Wavefront by VMware supports Kubernetes across application platform services such as Pivotal Container Service (PKS) and Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), as well as enterprise applications running on VMware-based private clouds. Integration with VMware vRealize Operations, a cloud management platform, provides lifecycle management and visibility into infrastructure and applications, enabling rapid service stabilization and enabling corporate IT teams to collaborate closely with business application teams.

VMware Log Intelligence Service : Provides centralized log management and rapid resolution of IT issues arising in VMware-based data centers and VMware Cloud on AWS. It also leverages machine learning algorithms and real-time log analysis to continuously scan data centers and cloud environments for issues. Through high-performance log search and dashboards, enterprises gain comprehensive visibility into application behavior and the health of their underlying infrastructure.

VMware Cost Insight Service : Maintains support for existing AWS, Microsoft Azure, and VMware-based private data centers, while estimating the costs of running applications on private or public clouds and providing the assessment analysis needed to migrate workloads to VMware Cloud on AWS. Integration with VMware Network Insight accurately measures and provides in-depth analysis of migration costs, including estimated network packet volume and storage IOPS after workload migration. Additionally, it provides reporting and alerting services for flexible budget management, with threshold settings to help manage costs and maintain budgets.
