Benefits for customers subscribing to low-cost no-contract 32.8 rate plan

KT announced that it will launch new rate plans and services to reduce customer burden, and strengthen customer benefits across various areas including revamping the selective contract discount grace period system.

KT will ▲launch an 'LTE Data Select (No Contract) rate plan' providing greater benefits to low-cost rate plan customers ▲launch a dedicated app service 'Y Data Box' that allows customers to easily send, receive, and manage data ▲introduce per-second billing for roaming voice calls ▲fully waive discount refunds when selective contract customers renew their contracts before contract expiration, thereby reducing customer burden while further enhancing customer benefits.

Launch of 'LTE Data Select (No Contract)' rate plan providing 1GB data

KT is launching the 'LTE Data Select (No Contract)' rate plan with data provision increased up to 3.3 times compared to the existing data select rate plan, without contract obligations.

The LTE Data Select (No Contract) rate plan targets the increasing demand from customers purchasing self-provided devices or used devices, and customers who wish to use services freely without being tied to contracts, and is characterized by providing expanded data centered on low-cost rate plans.

The LTE Data Select (No Contract) 32.8 rate plan provides 1GB of monthly data provision, which is 3.3 times higher than the existing data select rate plan, and the no-contract 38.3 rate plan provides 2.5GB, which is 2.5 times higher. Through this, it is expected that the data shortage issues raised by many low-cost rate plan customers will be substantially resolved.

For rate plans of 43.8 and above, data provision is doubled, enabling customers to receive the same level of data as one tier higher rate plans, thus achieving an effect equivalent to a minimum monthly rate discount of 5,500 won.

KT launched 'Y Data Box,' a data-dedicated app service that allows KT customers to easily send, receive, and manage data among themselves. Y Data Box can be downloaded and subscribed for free by anyone using KT LTE smartphone rate plans, and is designed to allow convenient access to various KT services and benefits through data-specialized menus within the app.

Key functions include ▲'Data Gift' that designates one specific person to share data with ▲'Data Treat' that shares data with multiple recipients (up to 10 people) without designating a specific person ▲Data management that allows easy confirmation of current data status and setting of data-specialized services.

Among these, 'Data Treat' is a function evolved one step further from data gifting to allow users to send and receive data in a more fun and easy way. As an abbreviation of 'treating people with data,' when users select the data capacity to share, a link is automatically generated and can be sent to multiple acquaintances via SNS. Acquaintances who receive the message can access the app through the link and receive data in 100MB units.

KT is running a promotion providing 500MB of data at 100% as a commemoration of the 'Y Data Box' launch. All customers who download the app and subscribe by September 4th will receive 500MB of LTE data immediately upon subscription. Additionally, through the 'Event Box' at the bottom of the app screen, KT plans to continuously provide various data and partnership benefits to customers with high app usage experience.
