Analog Devices (ADI) recently acquired Symeo, a privately held company based in Munich, Germany.

Symeo is a specialized company specializing in emerging autonomous vehicle and industrial radar hardware and software. Symeo's innovative signal processing algorithms are expected to enable ADI to provide a radar platform with improved angular accuracy and resolution.

“This acquisition enables ADI to provide customers with more comprehensive and powerful radar solutions,” said Chris Jacobs, vice president of the Autonomous Transportation and Safety business unit at Analog Devices. “Combining ADI’s leading product portfolio with Symeo’s expertise in systems and algorithms will enable higher-performing radar solutions, enabling more accurate sensing in autonomous driving systems.”

Symeo's unique RF and sensor technology enables real-time position detection and distance measurement. This outstanding technological prowess will enable system integrators and OEMs to provide high-precision radar solutions even in harsh industrial environments, providing greater opportunities for ADI as it expands its portfolio of solutions in the industrial sector.

Symeo's industrial high-precision radar technology was originally developed within Siemens, and was later spun off as an independent entity through Siemens Technology Accelerator (STA) in 2005.
