STMicroelectronics announced that it is collaborating with Belankani Electronics to design and develop Belankani's Prism smart meter for the Indian market.

This technological collaboration will further advance India's advanced metering infrastructure by combining ST's cutting-edge components, including the STCOMET smart meter System-on-Chip (SoC), with Belankani's expertise in smart meter design and deployment, based on its industrial manufacturing capabilities and vision. The STCOMET-based G3-PLC smart meter addresses many requirements of the smart grid market by integrating all major smart metering functions into a single chip. This meter connects consumers and suppliers to provide real-time metering and data analysis.

Francesco Muggeri, Head of ST’s Asia Pacific Power Discrete and Sub-analog Products Group, stated, “India is dynamically building smart cities through strong support and investment from enterprises and the government. ST has worked closely with Belankani to embed all the necessary features for implementing high-performance electric meters for smart grid applications,” and explained, “Belankani’s smart meters are based on the market-proven SoC STCOMET and its multi-core architecture to meet India’s demand for reliable, high-tech.”
