nanoDAC+™ Converter, Industry-Leading D/A Converter Performance and Ultra-Compact Package Implementation
May 3, 2012 – Analog Devices (www.analog.com, NASDAQ: ADI), a leader in the global data converter market, today introduced a quad 16, 14, and 12-bit D/A converter series available in space-saving 16-lead surface-mount LFCSP or leaded TSSOP packages. ADI's new AD568xR nanoDAC+™ quad D/A converter series features industry-leading DC performance (INL, offset error, and gain error) and the industry's smallest package, offering options to choose between on-chip or external reference and SPI or I²C control interface. The AD568xR series, featuring industry-leading exceptional performance, is ideal for applications requiring low-power, rail-to-rail, single-supply D/A converters such as PLC I/O cards, digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, and optical modules.
Donal Geraghty, Director overseeing Analog Devices' precision D/A converter division, emphasized, "In the past, customers either had to accept increased board area for high levels of digital-to-analog conversion accuracy and reference drift performance, or choose relatively lower performance to avoid increasing board area. Now they have a solution that meets all these requirements." He explained, "The AD5686R provides four D/A converters with 16-bit accuracy and 2ppm/°C reference in an ultra-compact 3mm x 3mm package."
Key Features of the AD5686R Quad D/A Converter
• Excellent accuracy (maximum ±2LSB at 16-bit) – suitable for open-loop applications
• On-chip 2.5V, 2ppm/°C integrated reference and low drift reduce board area and eliminate need for temperature compensation
• 3mm x 3mm ultra-compact chip-scale 16-pin LFCSP package suited for increasingly demanding smaller board size trends (e.g., optical modules, PLC I/O cards)
• Enhanced robustness with 4kV HBM ESD rating
• Offers pin compatibility for component upgrades/downgrades while providing options to select resolution (16, 14, or 12-bit) and interface (SPI or I²C) according to user preference
• Available in advanced and standard performance grades (Grade A and Grade B) to meet specific system performance and cost objectives
