KT announced the launch of LG Electronics' LTE feature phone 'LG Folder'. This targets elderly customers and test-taking students who use limited data and primarily use basic functions such as calls and text messages. The most distinctive feature is the 'Data Safe Lock function' which blocks application downloads, making games and KakaoTalk unavailable.
However, when absolutely necessary, users can access the internet by setting a password. FM radio, which can be used without separate data charges, is also equipped. LG Folder features a compact size and an embossed keypad with three-dimensional texture to enhance tactile feel and accuracy.
KT will launch it starting from the 26th through KT stores nationwide and KT Shop, its official online channel. The launch price is 220,000 won (VAT included), and colors available are Black and Pink Gold in two options.
Simultaneously with the LG Folder launch, KT introduced a 'LTE Voice Rate Plan' in the 10,000 won range for voice-centric users. The newly launched 'LTE Voice Rate Plan' consists of two types, configured with affordable low-cost pricing in the 10,000 won range.
The LTE Voice 18.7 rate plan provides 100 minutes of voice calls and 100 text messages as standard at a monthly fee of 18,700 won. The LTE Voice 12.1 rate plan provides 50 text messages as standard at a monthly fee of 12,100 won.
The LTE Voice Rate Plan is characterized by having data blocked by default to preemptively prevent customers from experiencing data bill shock. If data usage is necessary, customers can apply for 'LTE Data Recharge' to use data at a lower price compared to existing pay-as-you-go rates.
Jeong-yeop Son, Executive Director of the Wireless Terminal Division at KT Device Division, stated, "LG Folder is a device that meets the needs of customers who want to use it affordably and primarily for voice calls," and added, "We hope customers will use the LG Folder without financial burden with KT's new voice-type rate plan in the 10,000 won range, which was not previously available in KT's existing LTE lineup."

What is KT's faster-than-anyone 5G commercialization strategy?
KT held a 5G achievement presentation and commercialization strategy press briefing to announce the 5G technologies used during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics, as well as future strategies. Oh Seong-mok, head of KT's Network Division, stated, "After announcing at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) that KT would showcase the world's first 5G trial service at the 2018 Olympics, KT made efforts in developing various technologies and services for early 5G commercialization." During this Olympics, KT applied 5G-based technologies such as SyncView, Time Slice, and OmniView to events including figure skating, short track speed skating, and skiing. Through these technologies, KT delivered three-dimensional images capturing key moments such as aerial jumps and championship goals, as well as competition scenes from 360-degree angles to spectators and viewers. For bobsleigh, SyncView equipped on the top 10 teams was also used by US-based NBC. Additionally, approximately 3,000 people, including government officials, media executives, and telecommunications company CEOs, boarded KT's 5G Connected Bus.
