Automation World 2018, a smart factory and automation industry exhibition featuring smart factory solutions, supply and demand companies, and a collection of innovative industrial automation products, was held on the 28th. Automation World 2018, held for three days from March 28th to 30th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is Korea's largest industrial automation and smart factory exhibition, offering a glimpse into various solutions and technologies for manufacturing innovation.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the exhibition, now in its 29th year, showcases industries such as semiconductors/electronics, automobiles, sensors, electricity/energy, robots, and automation components, as well as jobs such as development/design, and equipment/maintenance/repair. In addition, more than 10 conferences, including robotics smart sensors, machine vision, and industrial IoT, are centered around the Smart Factory International Conference.A conference will be held concurrently to discuss the future of Korean SMEs, their technological capabilities, trends, and case studies. Presentations from international organizations and companies will also follow, providing a forum for comprehensive communication on the domestic and international automation markets.
Automation World 2018, Asia's largest exhibition specializing in smart factories and industrial automation, has seen its exhibition space expand by 56% compared to the previous year. A total of 500 companies are participating, and over 30,000 visitors are expected, a 24% increase over last year. In 2017, a total of 399 companies, 1,193 booths, and 27,226 visitors attended the event. This year, the exhibition expanded to cover the entire supply chain, from product planning and design to production and distribution, and introduced a variety of new ICT technologies, including the Internet of Things and big data processing. Additionally, next-generation simulation and display technologies such as CAE, 3D, and VR/AR will be exhibited.
We anticipate that participating companies will create new revenue models, gain overseas expansion opportunities, gain promotional benefits for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and lead the automation industry. This year's participating companies include Siemens, Mitsubishi, National Instruments (NI), Tug Korea, Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, and Autonics.
