Samsung Electronics to Build 'Smart Campus' with b.IoT
Published2018.04.02 16:13Samsung Electronics announced that it has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Chonnam National University regarding the establishment of an integrated b.IoT solution for implementing a smart campus.
Samsung Electronics' 'b.IoT solution' is an IoT-based building management solution that integrates various facilities such as HVAC, lighting, power, security, and network into a single system to support efficient building operations.
Through collaboration with Samsung Electronics, Chonnam National University integrated and manages system air conditioning indoor units that were individually installed across 17 buildings with a single 'b.IoT' solution, achieving significant energy savings effects through peak time power control, detection of inefficient operation devices, and usage monitoring based on energy consumption targets.
The b.IoT solution installs 'wireless IoT AP (Access Point)' supporting Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth in buildings to wirelessly control major devices needed for building management such as CCTV and smart controllers, thereby reducing initial investment costs and maintenance expenses compared to the existing method using only wired cables.
Additionally, an optimized energy-saving solution is provided that automatically calculates even standby heating and cooling times through AI learning programs.
The 'Samsung b.IoT solution' has the advantage of being able to develop and expand various services such as creating a comfortable campus environment through room-by-room heating and cooling management, smart attendance systems, and congestion monitoring and management in dining halls and libraries.
Samsung Electronics and Chonnam National University plan to actively promote mutual cooperation, including expanding IoT solutions with cutting-edge technologies such as AI and DI (Data Intelligence) beyond efficient energy management to implement a smart campus.
An official from Chonnam National University stated, "We adopted the 'Samsung b.IoT solution' to provide students with better educational conditions and increase the efficiency of campus operations," and added, "We will continue to take the lead in revitalizing a future-oriented smart campus by creating differentiated educational environments utilizing cutting-edge technology."

NVIDIA Partners with Arm to Apply Deep Learning to IoT Devices
Nvidia announced a partnership with Arm to integrate deep learning inference capabilities into billions of mobile, consumer electronics, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices targeting the global market. Through the partnership, Nvidia and Arm stated that they will integrate the open-source Nvidia Deep Learning Accelerator (NVDLA) architecture into Arm's Project Trillium platform for machine learning. LG Uplus-Central Veterans Hospital to Build AI-Based Smart Hospital
LG Uplus announced that it will work with the Central Veterans Hospital to establish a smart hospital with artificial intelligence services applied. To this end, both companies formed a dedicated task force from January onwards, consisting of ICT specialists from LG Uplus and medical practice and hospital administration experts from the Central Veterans Hospital. They selected short-term and mid-to-long-term projects necessary for smart hospital construction and agreed to promote and conduct joint research through mutual cooperation. In particular, LG Uplus will construct the 'U+ AI Smart Patient Room,' which will be the first in Korea to have an AI speaker, IoT devices, and IPTV installed in patient rooms.

Ecolab and K-water Discuss Innovation Collaboration in Advanced Industry Water Management

H.Energy has obtained green technology certification from the Small and Medium Business Administration for solar power generation forecasting and I-V curve anomaly diagnosis technology. The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance.
