Seoul, May 7, 2012 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has launched the new 500V CoolMOS™ CE series. These new products are ideal as a replacement for standard MOSFETs in cost-sensitive power supply designs such as consumer electronics, PC silver boxes, and lighting switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). Infineon’s 500V CoolMOS™ CE products combine all the advantages of modern superjunction MOSFETs, including low area-specific on-state resistance, reduced switching losses, and excellent body diode robustness.

Superjunction technology enables improved efficiency, especially at light loads, making these new CoolMOS™ CE devices an energy-efficient and cost-competitive alternative to standard MOSFETs. CoolMOS™ CE's low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)*A) reduces conduction losses, reduces energy stored in output capacitance (EOSS), and minimizes switching losses. Furthermore, its low gate charge (Qg) improves light-load efficiency without compromising full-load efficiency. Moreover, CoolMOS™ technology offers superior quality and reliability, reducing system costs and reducing maintenance costs. Its excellent body diode robustness and low reverse recovery charge (Qrr) make it ideal for soft-switching applications. These new products are easy to design in and offer smooth, controlled switching behavior, making them convenient to use.

Samples of 500V CoolMOS™ CE devices in TO-220 packages with RDS(ON) ratings of 280 mOhm and 500 mOhm are available now. Samples of 500V devices in DPAK and TO-220 FullPAK packages with RDS(ON) ratings of 280 mOhm, 500 mOhm, and 950 mOhm will be available in May 2012. OEM volume production is scheduled to begin in May 2012.
