KT Skylife Tracks Illegal Copying with NexGard

Nagra announced that it has supplied its pay TV watermarking solution, NexGuard, to KT Skylife.
Through this partnership, KT Skylife can now meet MovieLabs' Enhanced Content Protection (ECP) forensic watermarking requirements for premium content, including 4K Ultra HD and HDR. Furthermore, the application of NexGuard will provide subscribers with optimal quality and prevent piracy.

By leveraging NexGuard watermarking technology, KT Skylife has been able to meet the studio requirements for protecting high-value content. This has also allowed it to strengthen its core competitiveness for business growth, expanding its product offerings and enhancing the value of services provided to subscribers.
“Our service meets owners’ requirements for premium content protection by providing security capabilities and traceability for pay-TV content, while also deterring potential piracy,” said Stephane Le Draux, Senior Vice President, Sales and Services, APAC, Nagra. He added, “KT Skylife will now be able to create a virtuous cycle of content by using Nagra’s content protection and watermarking technology to prevent piracy, and subscribers will be able to enjoy the best content.”
Nagra's NexGard forensic watermarking technology adds an invisible, unique identifier to video content for set-top boxes, smart TVs, and other video players. This unique watermark is embedded in every video viewed, making it possible to trace any illegal distribution back to a specific account. This watermark persists even if the content is transcoded, resized, scaled, camcorded, or otherwise altered.

삼성전자-KT스카이라이프, 초고화질 방송 8K UHD 방송 시연
삼성전자와 KT스카이라이프가 올해 출시 예정인 2018년형 삼성 QLED TV를 이용해 8K UHD 전국 단위 방송을 시연했다. 이번 시험 방송은 KT스카이라이프가 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)의 천리안 위성을 통해 전송된 8K UHD 영상을 안테나로 수신해 삼성 QLED TV로 전송하는 방식으로 진행됐다. 삼성전자는 이번 시연에 울릉도의 아름다운 경관을 8K 영상으로 구현함으로써 초고화질 방송 시대 본격화의 가능성을 높였다.

Limelight Unveils Ultra-Low Latency Live Streaming Solution with Sub-Second Latency
Limelight Networks announced that it will showcase enhanced capabilities of its 'Limelight Video Platform and Video Delivery Service' and a new 'Live Streaming Solution' based on WebRTC (Web Real-time Communication) that implements sub-second (under 1 second) latency at 'NAB 2018,' the world's largest broadcast equipment exhibition. The WebRTC-based Live Streaming Solution implements sub-second latency based on scalable open technology supported by standard web browsers without requiring additional special plugins, and enables video streaming from anywhere in the world to any region. With WebRTC streaming technology integrated into the Limelight Orchestrate Platform, content distributors can implement live video streaming workflows such as sports broadcasting, gambling, gaming, and live auctions that require low latency. Steve Miller-Jones, Senior Director of Product Management at Limelight Networks, stated, "Limelight enables customers to deliver large-scale live and VOD content at broadcast-quality levels across all devices," and added, "WebRTC-based low-latency live streaming implements sub-second latency without additional plugin installation, and for the first time in the industry, enables seamless delivery of global live video natively supported across all major browsers."

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
