ROHM Co., Ltd. has decided to construct a new building at its Chikugo Plant in Fukuoka, where ROHM Apollo Co., Ltd. is headquartered, to strengthen its production capacity for SiC power devices, which are in growing demand.

The new building will be three stories above ground and have a floor space of approximately 11,000 square meters. Detailed design is currently underway, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2019 and be completed in 2020.

Since commencing mass production of SiC power devices (SiC-SBDs, SiC-MOSFETs) in 2010, ROHM has developed industry-leading technologies, including the world's first full-SiC power module and SiC Trech MOSFET mass production. Meanwhile, on the manufacturing front, the ROHM Group has established a robust integrated production system, striving to increase wafer inch size and improve production efficiency through the latest equipment.

With energy solutions becoming a global priority, ROHM is constructing a new factory building at Apollo to expand production capacity in preparation for the growing demand for SiC power devices, which are expected to be key to energy conservation.

The ROHM Group will continue to monitor market conditions and strengthen its production capabilities, while also thoroughly implementing a multi-site production system, inventory management, and disaster prevention measures to ensure stable supply to customers.
