Western Digital has launched the 'Western Digital Purple microSD card' for next-generation security surveillance systems.

Western Digital's new product is specially designed for the rapid processing of complex and diverse data generated by all video surveillance security edge systems, including the latest surveillance cameras.

Video data is a critical element for companies seeking to securely protect their assets through surveillance cameras or for shopping malls looking to analyze consumer behavior using surveillance systems. Optimized for 24/7 video surveillance systems, Western Digital Purple microSD cards effortlessly support continuous video surveillance workloads.

In particular, this new product is characterized by its outstanding performance, enabling the storage and preservation of various high-definition and next-generation video data, such as 4K UHD video. It also rapidly supports the transfer of data to core systems for data analysis or the immediate utilization of business information. Based on a robust design resistant to humidity, it enables stable video recording even in diverse environments, such as harsh outdoor conditions or humid factory interiors.

Optimized for evolving data-driven video surveillance demands
Western Digital Purple microSD cards are designed for recording surveillance video in various video qualities. They provide up to 1,000 P/E cycles (Program-Erase Cycles) for continuous recording. It also provides a status monitoring function based on camera compatibility. This allows for the prediction of maintenance timing by providing necessary information in advance, such as durability and data storage capacity status.

It supports sequential read speeds of up to 80MB/s, sequential write speeds of up to 50MB/s, and Speed Class 10 and UHS Speed Class 1. It is designed to operate normally even under extreme temperature conditions between -25°C and 85°C, enabling stable video recording indoors and outdoors.
