Plans to secure leadership by promoting 16 international standards in the ITS field.

The 51st International Standardization Conference on Intelligent Transport Systems (ISO TC 204), hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, was held.

This meeting was attended by approximately 200 domestic and international experts from 28 countries around the world, who discussed the development of international standards and strategies for promoting intelligent transportation systems.

At this conference, our country plans to promote 16 international standards in the field of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), thereby securing leadership in international standards for autonomous cooperative driving and road information technology (IT).

In particular, our country is taking the lead in promoting the commercialization of autonomous cooperative driving vehicles by proposing international standards for the practical application of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a core technology for autonomous cooperative driving.

During the event, Korea's advanced Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology will be promoted domestically and internationally through a tour of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Transportation Information Center (TOPIS) and a technology tour of the Sejong City 'C-ITS' pilot project site.

The National Agency for Technology and Standards expects that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to secure leadership in international technology standards for intelligent transportation systems, a key technology field in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In addition, the National Institute of Technology and Standards plans to actively support the internationalization of our technologies related to autonomous and cooperative driving and the entry of domestic companies into overseas markets through linkages between government research and development (R&D) and standardization.
