3.3x3.3mm² Power Clip Asymmetric Dual MOSFET Device – Achieving Superior Power Density and Efficiency
As power requirements increase to provide more functionality with high-density embedded DC-DC power supplies, power supply engineers face the challenge of achieving higher power density and efficiency with less board space. Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS) has introduced a 25V 3.3x3.3mm2 low-profile dual Power Clip asymmetric N-channel module called the FDPC8011S to help designers achieve this challenge.
Designed to operate at high switching frequencies, the FDPC8011S integrates a 1.4mΩ SyncFET and a 5.4mΩ controlled N-channel MOSFET in a full clip package, allowing for a reduction in the number of capacitors and inductor sizes when used in synchronous buck applications. The bottom side of the device enables easy mounting and wiring, simplifying the board layout and achieving optimal thermal performance. The FDPC8011S can supply an output current of more than 25A, thus doubling the output current capacity compared to existing 3.3x3.3mm2 dual MOSFET products.
