LG Uplus Launches Hybrid Cloud Service Combining Global Clouds
Published2018.05.08 09:52LG Uplus announced that it will provide a 'hybrid cloud' service that combines three global clouds, including a high-density IDC (Internet Data Center) and 'AWS (Amazon Web Service)'.
The hybrid cloud provided by LG U+ is a service that allows customers to build and operate IT infrastructure in both IDC and cloud, depending on their needs. This service can utilize three multi-clouds: ▲AWS, ▲'Azure (Microsoft Azure)', and ▲'Naver Cloud Platform' along with IDC.
Customers can build and operate infrastructure containing sensitive information they want to manage themselves, such as in-house security documents and personal information database servers, in the IDC through hybrid cloud services, while building infrastructure that allows external access, such as web servers, in the cloud, allowing them to be allocated as needed based on usage, enabling cost-effective operation.
In particular, LG U+ uses dedicated lines separated from the outside world, rather than general Internet lines, to ensure enhanced security and network quality when transmitting data between the infrastructures configured in each of its IDC and cloud.
In addition, to connect IDC and cloud with a dedicated line, a separate gateway service provided by the cloud service provider is required. As an official partner of AWS, LG U+ also directly provides the DX (Direct Connect) service for this purpose.
LG U+ is the only company in Korea that can directly provide IDC, AWS cloud, dedicated lines, and DX services as a single hybrid cloud service. Accordingly, LG U+ customers can use hybrid cloud services quickly and inexpensively without worrying about infrastructure configuration between IDC and cloud.
Additionally, customers can receive free infrastructure design and analysis consulting from experts when introducing hybrid cloud services, and based on this, they can also receive one-stop services ranging from ▲transfer of existing infrastructure, ▲construction, ▲operation monitoring, and ▲failure handling.
In addition, LG U+ provides an integrated management portal to help customers conveniently manage their hybrid cloud. Through this portal, customers can easily check the status of their IDC and cloud infrastructure, as well as their fees and bills.

LG Uplus and Seoul Metro are creating a smart and safe subway system.
LG Uplus announced that it is stepping up efforts to implement 'Smart Connected Metro' by combining the latest ICT technologies with Seoul Metro's subway infrastructure. To this end, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding a 'pilot project for implementing SCM (Smart Connected Metro)' at Seoul Metro's headquarters in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, with the attendance of Kong Jun-il, head of LG Uplus's Corporate Division, and Choi Jung-gyun, head of Seoul Metro's Technology Division, and agreed to cooperate with each other. The two companies plan to pursue three pilot projects for Smart Connected Metro: ▲'bridge safety diagnosis using drones', ▲'IoT motor diagnosis', and ▲'cleaning robot operation'. They will utilize data collected during the pilot project implementation process to discover future technologies needed for building smart subway services.

LG Uplus Drives Growth with Differentiated Content in Both Wired and Wireless
LG Uplus announced that under the K-IFRS 1115 new revenue accounting standard, it recorded total revenue of 2.9799 trillion won and operating profit of 187.7 billion won for the first quarter of 2018. Operating revenue was recorded at 2.2701 trillion won, while device revenue reached 709.9 billion won. Additionally, within operating revenue, wireless revenue was recorded at 1.3346 trillion won and wireline revenue at 919.7 billion won.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers.
