Woojin Electronics Receives Order for Automotive Camera Module Connectors
Published2018.07.02 10:10Woojin Electronics announced on the 2nd that it has recently received an order for automotive camera module connectors to be supplied to a global original equipment manufacturer, and is beginning product development and mass production preparations.
The component ordered this time is a rear camera module connector for automobiles, with supplies scheduled from next year through 2023. This supply represents an initial order volume, and the company is expecting consistent supply going forward. In addition to the rear camera module connector supply that has been confirmed, efforts are underway to secure supply of front and side camera module connectors as well.
The company stated, "Since automotive electrical components typically undergo production for more than four years, stable supply is expected to proceed," and added, "As next-generation automobiles such as autonomous vehicles are commercialized, demand for camera module connectors is anticipated to increase sharply, so we plan to make greater efforts in establishing stable production systems and quality management."
In fact, global automotive manufacturers in South Korea, the United States, Japan, Germany, and other countries are sequentially announcing commercialization plans for next-generation automobiles such as autonomous vehicles and conducting product demonstrations.
Woojin Electronics judges that as the proportion of data-centric automobiles with cameras and sensors increases, demand for connectors will also rise, and is pursuing a strategy of proactively preparing market responses. Additionally, the company is also conducting business to secure orders for key connectors and FFC cables used in electric vehicles and vehicle chargers.
Meanwhile, Woojin Electronics successfully received an order for charging communication module connectors last month, officially entering the electric vehicle components business. The company plans to strengthen marketing and research and development in the second half to secure orders for electric vehicle and autonomous vehicle connectors and FFC cables to be supplied to original equipment manufacturers.
