Trina Solar, a Chinese photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer, announced on July 31 that it will supply 258MW of monocrystalline PERC double-glass modules to Vietnam's largest private solar PV project.

This power plant, being constructed in Phan Rang Thap Cham, the capital of Ninh Thuan Province, has attracted investment from the Vietnamese investment firm Trung Nam Group. Construction is scheduled to be completed on June 30 of next year. The power plant covers an area of 264 hectares, with a total investment of approximately $220 million.

At the contract signing ceremony, an executive from Trung Nam Group stated, "As this power plant is our first investment in a PV power plant, we took great care in selecting the module supplier."

"It is an honor to be a part of this integrated renewable energy project that will establish a new standard for Vietnam's renewable energy industry," said Yin Rongfang, Vice President and Head of International Sales and Marketing at Trina Solar. "Based on our deep understanding of the Vietnamese market, we are currently pursuing several new projects and have established a solar cell production facility of 1 GW in Vietnam to date." He added that Trina Solar's products will become increasingly available in Vietnam and contribute to boosting the company's sales in the Asia-Pacific region.

Meanwhile, according to the 'Top 10 Module Suppliers of 2017' ranking released by PV-Tech, Trina Solar maintained its second-place ranking in terms of shipment volume in 2017, recording an international module shipment volume of 9.0–9.2 GW. Furthermore, it retained its position as the world's largest module supplier by surpassing 32 GW in cumulative shipment volume.
