Achieved Recommendation Rating for 5 Consecutive Years
Achieves 99.31% security effectiveness and low TCO
Fortinet Korea announced on August 17 that its 'FortiGate 500E' next-generation firewall (NGFW) received a 'recommended' rating in the 'Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) category test' conducted by NSS Labs.

In this year's tests, the FortiGate 500E next-generation firewall achieved an overall security effectiveness score of 99.31% and a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). NSS Labs has continuously evolved its NGFW testing methodology to meet the demanding requirements of customers. Fortinet FortiGate has provided the optimal combination of security, performance, and value to handle today's demanding workloads, and as a result, has earned a 'Recommended' rating for the fifth consecutive year.

Fortinet's FortiGate next-generation firewall provides high-performance SSL security inspection technology while minimizing performance degradation. Fortinet demonstrated high effectiveness against 32 encryption key combinations (Cipher Suite) and novel encryption keys tested by NSS Labs. Fortinet provides an effective SSL-enabled cloud access NGFW and transparently discloses SSL inspection performance figures.

FortiGate blocked 100% of evasion attacks and achieved an overall security validity score of 99.3%, once again proving that it effectively protects against known and unknown threats.

Fortinet demonstrated superior performance in terms of price-to-performance ratio among the 10 vendors tested by NSS Labs. In fact, the FortiGate 500E recorded 6,753 Mbps in the NSS test, which is higher than Fortinet's own test result of 5,200 Mbps.

Fortinet received a 'Recommended' rating in eight NSS Labs Group tests last year, ranging from network security, endpoints, intrusion detection, and web application firewalls.

As the adoption of cloud and SaaS applications accelerates, encrypted SSL traffic is increasing significantly. In fact, NSS Labs predicted that approximately 75% of all enterprise traffic would be encrypted by 2019.
