LG Uplus announced on the 4th that it has launched 'U+ AI Remote Control,' which allows home appliances that do not support IoT functions to be used like IoT appliances.

The U+ AI Remote Control allows users to remotely control TVs, set-top boxes, air conditioners, and air purifiers—which can only be operated via IR (infrared) remotes—through voice commands via an AI speaker or a smartphone, without the need for individual remotes. This product features a compact rectangular design with dimensions of 68mm in width and length, and 24.5mm in height.

LG Uplus has introduced the U+ AI Remote, which allows customers who want to use IoT appliances but find the purchase cost burdensome to use their existing appliances just like IoT appliances.

This product can control most TVs (194 brands), set-top boxes (10 brands), air conditioners (13 brands), and air purifiers (10 brands) released in Korea.

The U+ AI remote control is convenient because it allows you to easily operate home appliances with a single voice command, such as “Clova, turn on the TV” or “Clova, set the air conditioner to 25 degrees,” when your hands are busy cooking or housework, or when it is difficult to find the remote. In addition, seniors and children who have difficulty using remote controls can also easily operate home appliances using voice commands.

The U+ AI Remote Control links with the 'IoT@home' app, allowing users to remotely control home appliances via smartphone. Users can turn off appliances using their smartphone if they left the house with them powered on, or operate the air conditioner before arriving home to adjust the desired indoor temperature in advance.

LG Uplus expects that the launch of the U+ AI Remote will increase the utility of the 'Simultaneous Execution' feature, which allows various home IoT devices to be linked and controlled simultaneously. For example, when leaving the house, a single phrase like "I'm out" can turn off not only the TV and air conditioner but also the lights.

Lee Jae-won, Senior Vice President of Home IoT Products at LG Uplus, emphasized, “The U+ AI Remote is an innovative service that goes beyond the convenience of controlling home appliances to expand the usage environment of IoT and AI in daily life,” adding, “We will continue to expand IoT and AI services that can enhance customer value.”

LG Uplus is running a promotion until the end of the year to provide a free AI remote control to all new customers who sign up for a Home IoT package (Parental Safety, Child Safety, Pet, Singles, and My Way IoT) so that more customers can experience smart home services through the U+ AI remote control.
