LG Electronics’ Water Science Research Institute, established earlier this year, received the highest score for water analysis capabilities in the UK.

LG Electronics recently received the highest score in the Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) organized by the UK Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

In this evaluation, the margin of error (Z-Score) of the results analyzed by the Water Science Research Institute is 0.0. A margin of error closer to zero signifies superior analytical capability. This evaluation measures the accuracy with which research institutions analyze substances. Approximately 3,000 research institutions from around 100 countries are evaluated annually.

The Water Science Research Institute is a state-accredited water quality testing agency recognized by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS). This result is highly significant as it acknowledges the analytical capabilities and reliability of LG Electronics' Water Science Research Institute.

LG Electronics opened a Water Science Research Institute at its Changwon R&D Center in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, earlier this year. Researchers with specialized expertise in water-related technologies are jointly researching next-generation core technologies for PuriCare water purifiers with a technical advisory group composed of domestic professors.

Since launching its water purifier business in 2009, LG Electronics has been leading the domestic water purifier market by introducing differentiated products and services, including: a 'full stainless steel' water purifier and a chemical-free 'electrolytic sterilization' service in 2011; a direct-flow water purifier with IH (Induction Heating) technology, the first in the industry, in 2016; and the 'Total Care 1.2.3' service, which replaces the water pipes inside the purifier with new ones every year, starting from last year.

In particular, 'Total Care 1.2.3' resolves users' concerns about water purifier hygiene through features such as annual replacement of the direct water pipe, automatic and manual two-stage 'UV-LED' faucet sterilization, and close customer care that visits the customer's home every three months to sterilize the product.
