Cognex Launches Insight 9902L, Embedded Industrial Line Scan System

Cognex launched the line scan vision system 'Insight 9902L' on October 30.
The newly released Insight 9902L is a high-resolution vision system and an embedded industrial line scanning system that processes images directly from the camera. It is particularly suitable for detailed inspection of large or cylindrical objects on fast-moving production lines.

The Insight 9902L, which provides 32-megapixel images, can increase image brightness, enabling precise inspection and the detection of minute defects. In addition, it features a rapid line scan frequency of 67 kHz, allowing it to recognize each data line within 14.9 microseconds.
The Insight 9902L can capture images of large parts even with a narrow field of view. Therefore, it is ideal for production lines with limited space or environments with restricted mounting space. Since a separate controller is not required, the number of installed equipment can also be reduced.
With an IP67-rated housing that protects the product from liquids and dust even in harsh factory environments, an external enclosure is not required.
The Insight 9902L performs machine vision inspection setup and monitoring using Insight Explorer software with a built-in EasyBuilder interface. The EasyBuilder interface provides step-by-step instructions to operators to easily set up vision applications, enabling even novice users to configure vision applications quickly and easily.

For these reasons, Vietnam's current manufacturing market has over 500,000 people engaged in inspection work. While generally efficient for overall automation, existing systems have shown weakness in the detailed detection required by smart factories' "customized production." Machine vision enables inspection through rules created by various signal processing methods. Creating rules to detect irregular and highly deformed patterns that humans can immediately recognize is difficult. Cognex announced the launch of the DataMan 470 series of fixed barcode readers.
