Moxa announced on the 6th that it is launching a new IIoT edge gateway product, the UC-8100-ME-T series.

The UC-8100-ME-T series is equipped with Microsoft Azure IoT Edge and is a solution that extends IT infrastructure for Microsoft Azure customers and enables OT data connectivity in industrial applications.

To further enable the convergence of OT and IT, this industrial-grade edge gateway is suitable for IIoT applications used in factory automation, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), energy, oil and gas.

Moxa's IIoT edge gateway integrates Moxa's industrial protocol expertise, provides 10 years of long-term Linux support, and facilitates the management of large-scale deployed devices.

Moxa showcased this Azure-enabled IIoT edge gateway demo at the IoT Solutions World Congress held in Barcelona from October 16 to 18. Through a demo, Moxa showcased a solution that provides multi-protocol conversion for IIoT applications while maintaining investments in existing industrial infrastructure, as well as cloud integration.

Moxa’s UC-8100-ME-T series is based on a low-power Arm Cortex-A8 1GHz processor, features an industrial-grade fanless design and DIN rail, has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C with the inclusion of an LTE module, and is equipped with dual auto-recognition 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports.

By integrating Azure IoT Edge with Moxa’s industrial Linux-based IIoT gateway, customers are guaranteed long-term product support, benefit from the ability to create secure file systems, and receive enhanced security through continuous security patches over a 10-year support period. By combining this with Moxa's expertise in industrial protocols, cloud connectivity is provided to existing brownfield applications.
