Higher price competitiveness than existing red-based products

Samsung Electronics strengthened its lineup of LED products for plant growth on the 21st by launching eight new products, including ‘white-based LED packages and modules’ that promote crop growth with a wide range of light wavelengths.
Samsung Electronics' recently released mid-power (LM301H, LM561H) and high-power (LH351H) packages and modules (Horticulture LED Module) are products that emit white light. Their features include implementing light of a wide wavelength range (Full Spectrum) to help plants grow evenly and improve the convenience of cultivation work.

This product utilizes a full spectrum of light, including blue and red wavelengths known to be effective for photosynthesis, and is effective in increasing plant nutrients and preventing pests and diseases compared to single wavelength products. Additionally, the white light makes it easy for workers to check the growth status of plants.

In particular, this white-based product is more price competitive than existing red-based products, which can reduce the cost of building lighting systems for indoor farms, plant factories, etc.

In addition, by applying Samsung Electronics' unique package design technology, it provides high reliability even in high temperature and humid environments such as greenhouses or areas where chemical fertilizers are used.

Samsung Electronics LED Business Team Managing Director Kim Eon-soo said, “This new product will provide a new solution for indoor farms with its advantages such as increased crop production and reduced facility construction costs.” He added, “In the future, we will create new value in the plant growth LED industry by combining it with smart lighting technology utilizing connectivity and sensors.”

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has expanded customer choices by including single-wavelength high-power packages (LH351H: 450 nm, 660 nm, 730 nm) in blue and red in addition to white-based products in this lineup.

Samsung Electronics plans to sequentially mass produce each product starting in November and supply them to customers.
