LG Uplus announced on the 25th that it has released the virtualized integrated management platform linkage specifications jointly developed with Samsung Electronics as part of its efforts to build a 5G ecosystem based on the mutual growth of large and small businesses.
As the first case, LG Uplus disclosed the virtualization integrated management platform linkage specifications to Ariatech, a small and medium-sized telecommunications equipment company, and completed the development of virtualization-based 5G subscriber authentication and policy management equipment. LG Uplus plans to commercialize this within the next year.

The virtualization integrated management platform (NFV Management and Orchestration, NFV MANO) enables the application of various core devices required to provide 5G services to the network at the necessary time.

The subscriber authentication and policy management equipment developed this time is equipment that guarantees optimal quality for each service according to the subscribed rate plan and additional service when a customer with a 5G terminal accesses a 5G network domestically or overseas.

Compared to existing LTE, 5G can provide a wider range of services to not only general customers but also a wider range of corporate customers. To this end, it is essential to build a 5G ecosystem that allows various developers, including small and medium-sized enterprises, to quickly develop and apply new services.

With the release of this interoperability standard, small and medium-sized enterprises can now easily develop virtualized equipment for 5G services without having to develop a virtualized integrated management platform that requires a lot of effort and cost, thereby further activating the 5G ecosystem.

In addition, the time required to build new equipment can be dramatically shortened, and system upgrades for new services can be applied at once, which can dramatically accelerate the development of 5G-related technologies.

LG Uplus plans to continuously provide virtualized integrated management platform linkage specifications to small and medium-sized enterprises so that they can apply it to 5G equipment to be introduced in the future.
