SK Telecom announced on the 27th that it will expand the smart home ecosystem by supporting small and medium-sized home appliance manufacturers that are struggling to develop smart home appliances.

According to the 'Smart Home Industry Status Survey Results' released on September 18, domestic smart home industry sales are projected to grow by 6.8% annually until 2025, reaching 40 trillion won. However, small and medium-sized home appliance companies cited market entry barriers dominated by large corporations as a challenge to the smart home business.

Accordingly, SK Telecom has established the 'Easy Ride-On (ERO)' program to enable small and medium-sized home appliance manufacturers to more conveniently produce a variety of smart home devices.
First, we simplified the complex procedures of the partnership process, which is a major challenge for small and medium-sized home appliance companies developing smart home IoT devices. SK Telecom has made it possible to easily handle various stages of the process, such as inquiries regarding integration development through information sessions and exhibitions, partnership negotiations, and contract drafting, on the SK Telecom Smart Home website.

In addition, SK Telecom supports the development of SK Telecom-certified Wi-Fi modules for small and medium-sized manufacturers that face difficulties in developing compatible devices due to a lack of experience in designing Wi-Fi modules for smart home integration.

The authentication Wi-Fi module, jointly developed by SK Telecom and its partners, simplifies the connection steps between the smart home platform and home appliances from the existing six steps to three, enabling consumers to easily register devices. Technically, the authentication module has the advantage of maintaining a packet loss rate of less than 1% even at low power consumption of 0.3W to 1W.

SK Telecom enabled small and medium-sized enterprises to receive quality-assured modules at a lower price compared to existing products through bulk price negotiations with Wi-Fi module manufacturers.

As the first step of the program, SK Telecom signed a business agreement with EasySaver, Central Control, and Winners at the SK Telecom headquarters in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul on the 27th.

EasySaver is a company that manufactures SK Telecom smart home compatible devices such as smart plugs and smart switches. As the first SK Telecom smart home certified module provider, it manufactures and supplies certified modules for small and medium-sized manufacturers.

Jungang Control is a company specializing in automatic lighting control with a history of over 30 years, possessing the best technology in Korea in power control, remote metering, etc. We plan to proceed with B2B business cooperation with SK Telecom and construction companies.

Winners is a small but strong company that manufactures wiring devices such as outlets and switches and sells them through major construction companies and distribution networks. Through this agreement with SK Telecom, it plans to produce IoT wiring devices for use in smart homes.
