LG Electronics Grows WebOS Ecosystem Further

LG Electronics announced on the 6th that it has decided to expand its proprietary platform webOS to automobiles, robots, and smart homes, following its application to smart TVs, digital signage, and smart home appliances.

webOS is a mobile OS announced by Palm in 2009, and after HP, LG Electronics acquired all rights in 2013. Since 2014, webOS has been installed in LG Electronics smart devices such as smart TVs, and its stability has been verified.
In particular, it is designed with a software structure that can easily apply new services and technologies, so that developers can conveniently use it for products in various fields. It also provides software development tools so that external developers can create applications.
LG Electronics participated in the 'Qt World Summit 2018' held in Berlin, Germany for two days from the 5th and gave a keynote speech and technology presentation. Qt is a software tool that provides a GUI to enable quick and easy development of applications. webOS has been leveraging Qt to provide customers with an intuitive and easy-to-use user experience.
At this event, LG Electronics introduced its webOS strategy, which supports ▲AI using its own AI platform, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, etc. ▲connectivity utilizing information and communication technologies such as 5G ▲multimedia that is not restricted by display devices. It also shared its know-how in applying webOS to various fields such as automobiles, robots, and smart homes.
Prior to this, LG Electronics released the 'webOS Open Source Edition' on its developer site in March, which anyone can use. Also, based on its open strategy, it is continuously conducting research and development in collaboration with global companies, research institutes, etc. to enable webOS to be installed easily and conveniently in other companies' products.
LG Electronics CTO Park Il-pyeong said, “We will evolve webOS and gradually expand the ecosystem to provide customers with an optimized AI experience through various products and services.”

LG전자가 태국 최고층 건물인 마하나콘 타워의 전망대 전용 엘리베이터에 올레드 사이니지 월을 설치했다. 마하나콘 타워는 높이 314m로 태국에서 가장 높은 건물이다. 78층 루프탑에 개장한 마하나콘 스카이워크는 방콕의 새로운 명소로 부상하고 있다. LG전자는 엘리베이터 문을 제외한 내부 벽, 천장 등 4면을 모두 올레드 사이니지로 감싸 마치 가상현실 공간에 들어온 것 같은 몰입감을 선사한다. 전망대 전용 엘리베이터 2대에는 55인치 올레드 사이니지 56장이 투입됐다.

Evolving Foundry Technology Leads the 4th Industrial Revolution
Samsung Electronics Foundry Division President Jung Eun-seung delivered a keynote speech at the International Electron Devices Meeting held in San Francisco on the theme of "Industry 4.0 and Foundry." In his keynote address, President Jung emphasized that to process the rapidly growing data in the Industry 4.0 era, semiconductor integration density must be increased to continuously improve performance and power efficiency. He stressed that the evolution of advanced foundry technologies such as EUV lithography and STT-MRAM is critical for this.
